Youth Empowerment For Sustainable and Profitable Agriculture in Rwanda (YESPAR) Project.

The Youth Empowerment For Sustainable and Profitable Agriculture in Rwanda (YESPAR) Project, implemented in partnership between SUYANA Foundation and RWARRI, is taking place at Amizero Institute of Technology and Hospitality (AMITH) in Kayonza District.

This initiative aims to empower 150 Rwandan youth by equipping them with essential skills through short-term, hands-on training in areas such as agricultural mechanization, irrigation, and post-harvest handling. The project is designed to contribute to the long-term transformation of Rwanda’s agricultural sector, promoting sustainability, innovation, and youth-driven agribusiness development.

The Joint Programme on Rural Women’s Economic Empowerment (JP RWEE) is a global initiative aimed at securing the livelihoods, rights, and resilience of rural women and their households. In Rwanda, it is funded by WFP, FAO, IFAD, and UN Women, and implemented by four partners targeting 8,000 rural women across five districts: Kirehe, Ngoma, Gisagara, Nyaruguru, and Nyamasheke. The component implemented by the Rwanda Rural Rehabilitation Initiative (RWARRI), in partnership with the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) and funded by WFP, spans from 2024 to 2027.

IGITI NI UKUBAHO

With the support from TerraFund, RWARRI is implementing a project named “Empowering Rutsiro and Rubavu Communities through Lake Kivu catchment Forest Restoration – IGITI NI UKUBAHO Project”, aiming to restore 214,200 forest and agroforestry trees around farmlands, riverside, and anti–erosive structure. It will be implemented within the catchment of Rubavu and Rutsiro districts. Rubavu district comprises the sectors of Rubavu, Rugerero, Gisenyi and Nyamyumba, whereas Rutsiro district involves the sectors of Kivumu, Mushonyi and Kigeyo.
